Blaze A Trail To Oregon
In distinction to the Southeastern United States, which is geographically ancient, the Pacific Northwest is very new country, with rugged mountain ranges and active volcanoes as well as thousands of square miles of evergreen forests. It is also one of the most scenic regions of the U.S. Oregon’s Willamette Valley, which stretches north to south from the Columbia River to Ashland, was one of the first locations of this region to be developed by Euro-Americans, starting in the 1820s. By 1859, Oregon had been granted statehood and Portland was already a major port city.
