How To Successfully Deal With Rats
Rats are a major nuisance in several houses around the world. Here are some methods through which you can deal with the problem of rats in your house.
One of the best ways to do this is to use electronic pest control methods. These ways make use of sounds of high frequency emitted by ultrasonic machines that can keep the rats away. Only rats can hear these sounds and hence the devices are safe for people and domestic pets.
Another method of getting rid of rats is by making use of organic rat repellents. These involve use of small tablets or tiny granules that give out a smell of different animals that feed on rats. These can be sprinkled throughout the house, backyard, garage or any other place frequented by rats.
Rats can also be repelled by moth balls as the strong odour emitted by them keep rats away from your residence. They are highly effective if kept in moist and dark corners of the home, which are likely to be frequented by the rats.
One of the methods that have been in practice for a long time now is the use of mechanical traps, often called wooden snap traps. They are less expensive and quite effective when fitted with suitable baits. However, they can injure the children and household pets and therefore need to be laid cautiously. The limitation with such snap traps is that they can capture not more than one rat at one go. Yet, it is a better option as it is not hazardous like the chemical products that are often toxic and thus harmful.
A glue board can also be used to trap and kill rats. A glue board can be made quite easily by taking a cardboard or wooden plank and smearing a lot of glue on it. You can sprinkle bread crumbs on the board that can act as bait for rats. When rats access the food, the glue sticks to them and they can’t run out of the board. This eventually results in their starving to death.
