Why The Beatles In Stereo Box Set Is A “Must Buy”
The Beatles aren’t a “greatest hits” type of band. You can not get just the number one hits CD and be done with the lads from Liverpool. In fact, I strongly believe most of their greatest tracks were not their top hits but instead their more adventurous tunes such as “I Am The Walrus.”
To truly get a feel for The Beatles incredibly influential music you have to hear their albums from start to finish instead of simply hearing the greatest hits. I’m not alone in believing that they recorded many of the most timeless rock albums of all time and even their not so great albums (like With The Beatles) have a few class tracks.
This is why I think it is such a fantastic idea to Buy The Beatles Remastered Stereo Box Set. This box set contains every album (and every non-album song with the Past Masters CDs) that they recorded and released during the 60s.
It includes pretty much all of their CDs except for Live at the BBC CDs and the three Anthology sets. This makes sense because those newer releases are not included as a part of “the official catalog” of The Beatles. These extras are more like the “extra features” on a DVD while the original releases are the main film.
There are some more of their CDs that are not included, for example there’s 1999 release of a CD titled Yellow Submarine Songtrack that’s completely different from the original Yellow Submarine LP. It is actually much better and definitely worth hearing for it’s different mixes. Love and Let It Be… Naked are not included either.
As well as The Beatles Stereo Box Set, I also definitely recommend that you Buy The Beatles Remastered Mono Box Set which contains the the mono versions of their albums up through The White Album. It’s hard to understand in the context of today, but when the “Fab Four” were recording they thought the mono version to be of far more importance than the stereo versions up until their last two albums were were recorded only in stereo.

The Beatles Rock Band is a great gift idea for The Beatles fan who doesn’t realize he likes playing video games (until he gets this!)
